Last October we started a new project called NOSOSENS. The general objective of this project is the research and development of a real-time, high-resistance Staphylococcus Aureus detection and disinfection system for the prevention of nosocomial infections in the hospital environment. NOSOSENS focuses on the research and development of a system integrated by:
1) A portable electrochemical biosensor platform for the immediate and specific detection and quantification of bacteria of the Staphylococcus aureus family.
2) A system for monitoring, managing and displaying data and alerts.
3) An application protocol for newly formulated biobased bactericidal agents. This system will allow traceability and control of the infecting agent and rapid action to eliminate colonization of surfaces, minimizing the risks associated with hospital stays.
This is a project financed by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) in the 2023 call for aid.
Researchers from the UROLab laboratory of the General University Hospital Research Foundation of Valencia participate in this consortium project together with AIMPLAS · Institute of Plastic Technology and the Valencian companies AGC - Assesoría de Gesció i comunicacions and Rogemar - Química Deambla.
During the period 2023-2025 we will work together on the development of this detection system. In our case, CRESPO will mainly have responsibility for the design, development and printing of the flexible electronics of the biosensor, providing all our know-how regarding functional printing.
The financial amount granted to Crespo for this project is: 88,800.23 euros.
